Intergenerational fairness is the theme for a Commission made up of 150 randomly selected citizens from all parts of the EU. This European Citizen Panel met for the first time from 12-14.9.25, for a three day session; with two more weekends to follow. Also present: Jörg Tremmel serving as a member of the Knowledge Committee. The background is that for the first time the EU has a 'commissioner' (comparable to a 'minister' in the German government). Commission President Ursula von der Leyen gave Glenn Micallef from Malta, the youngest EU Commissioner, the portfolio: Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sports (we reported, see earlier blog post).
