Intergenerational Fairness Day Podcast
Our English Podcast with FRFG project manager Lena Winzer
Every year on 16 November, Intergenerational Fairness Day brings together organisations, institutions, and citizens across continents to ask a fundamental question: How can today’s decisions be fair to those who will live with their consequences tomorrow? What began in 2023 as a coordinated global day of action, involving partners from Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, Nigeria, Australia, and the UN Foundation, has since evolved into a growing platform for long-term thinking, democratic innovation, and institutional change.
The Intergenerational Fairness Day Podcast is part of this initiative. Hosted by Lena Winzer, Project Manager at the FRFG, the podcast explores how intergenerational fairness can move from principle to practice. Through conversations with international experts, policymakers, and civil society actors, the series examines how political systems can better represent younger and future generations — from climate policy and AI to democratic reform, the European Citizens' Panel, and governance for the long term.
Generationengerechtigkeit: Der Podcast
Our German Podcast with FRFG's scientific director Jörg Tremmel
Nothing is as popular as talking and writing about intergenerational justice – and nothing is as futile as trying to define it in a universally accepted way. Since "intergenerational justice" is a positively connoted term, it's no surprise that various actors want to use it for their purposes. But what would be a serious definition? This podcast aims to let experts deeply versed in the topic speak. Each episode will focus on both the person and their work, including their biography, motives, and research interests.
